Church of Craft

I hosted a Church of Craft with Willo way back a few months ago. It was definitely super fun, and many crafts were made. I wish I could host it every month, but there are a few too many factors that keep me from setting aside a Sunday every month. I'm excited about hosting another one tomorrow!

Pendant Lamp

Mmm ... this didn't turn out as well as I wanted. I was trying to mirror the pattern in the bookcase by etching the glass piece that I'll use to make a pendant lamp. I used some glass etching stuff that etched unevenly in some places after 3 applications of about 5 mins. each.

It also was hard to work with proportions on the curved glass.

I may just decoupage the whole thing with some lacy washi, but I'm worried once again with the curves of the glass. I only spent a couple of dollars on the glass, and about ten on the glass etching stuff of which I used about a quarter of the bottle.

I etched something back in high school, but the etching was much stronger and more even. It must've been a stronger acid than the stuff I got.

Holiday (Ba)Card(i) Party

I hosted a holiday card making party and served up some rum to drink and rum cake. I didn't actually start making cards until most people left, but it was still really fun. Here are some cards I made. They're 3-dimensional, and you can't really tell, but the penguins are on glittery white cardstock and there are silvery stars in the sky above, and the red bow is real ribbon.

As a party favor, I decided to give away these "fresh from 415" postage stamps so folks could send out their cards. I made them through

I'm totally inspired to continue hosting craft parties!

Heat Embossing

I just tried out my Walnut Hollow stuff today and made a late holiday gift for Reiko. Alphabet stamps and calligraphy tip.

Look closely in the lower right hand corner and you can see I heat embossed her name on the cover of this bonded leather journal.
